19.4 Recap

Last weeks Friday Night Lights pitted Corey vs. Matt!

Matt was fresh off a four day guys weekend and doing his best to rehydrate. Corey was working through a headcold and all hopped up on Sudafed. It was bound to be a sufferfest. 3,2,1, Go and Matt took the holeshot with a hot first three rounds. With the tiebreaker locked he just needed to match Corey during the muscle-ups and burpees. He had a 30 second head start but Corey put on a muscle up clinic in the first round, going unbroken for 10 muscle ups. They hit the first burpee tied. They made their way through the second round nearly rep for rep. After another 12 burpees it all came down to who could do more muscle ups in the final seconds. In the end, Matt took down Corey in a close match up by two reps!

  • Matt F 115
  • Corey H 113
  • Narwhals - 2
  • Water Buffalo - 2

As for the team challenge the Narwhals took week 4 (note to even up the teams only top 14 scores were used on each team, scaling this week was given 50% of RX):

  1. Narwhals 1,240

19.5 Molly vs Molly

M and M.jpg

In the final Friday Night Lights on 3/22 at 5pm, Molly vs Molly (not a drug reference/comparison) is a great battle, they both have much in common, same name, from the Pacific Northwest, both beasts of athletes. This one will likely come down to is it cardio based or weight based...in years past the last workout has seemingly been cardio based (think thrusters/burpees) will that favor Molly M enough?

Molly G has turned her focus to weightlifting (nationals prep) and Molly M is coming back from a rough foot/ankle injury, but both have stepped up to the plate to show their stuff in the last Open workout of the year!

For those of you doing our Intramural Open:

  • Molly G - Narwhal
  • Molly M - Water Buffalo

This weeks Friday Night Lights pitted Nick vs. Steve!

Both Nick and Steve are physical specimens, just maybe not in a really fitness related way!

Nick was able to take advantage of the first two movements to gain a lead and Steve was not able to catch up. Both finished the Lunges and Step Ups but Nick was able to squeak out 4 HSPU. Giving the Narwhals their first Friday Night Lights Victory!

Afternoon Classes Canceled 3/13 due to Blizzard

Blizzard.jpg

We have made the decision for everyone's safety to cancel the afternoon classes on 3/13 due to the Blizzard. The roads are already bad and are expected to worsen through the afternoon.

We have not made a decision on the morning classes for 3/14 but will do so by 8pm tonight.

If you need some fitness try your hand at a past open workout:

AMRAP in 7 Minutes: Burpees (jump to a 6" above your reach point)

Post your reps to comments!

19.4 COREY vs MATT

c and m.jpg

Two of our top male CrossFitter's will meet in this weeks Friday Night Lights on 3/15 at 5pm. A silent rivalry (I [Nick] made this up) has been brewing for years to see who the top male in the gym is.

Matt has been chasing down Corey for the last few years in the Open and thanks to a RIDICULOUS PATERNITY LEAVE (and some hard work) he may have closed the gap. Corey much like a fine wine is getting better with age, and although he is now a "Level 2 Master" (40-44 years old) he is still showing high levels of fitness

For those of you doing our Intramural Open:

  • Matt - Narwhal
  • Corey - Water Buffalo

19.3 NICK vs STEVE

NIck vs steve.jpg

Coaches Steve and Nick will do battle in this weeks Friday Night Lights on 3/8 at 5pm. Their idea of fitness may be more in line with how to fit dis burger/beer in their mouth, but the Battle of the Buldge is sure to be fierce.

For those of you doing our Intramural Open:

  • Nick - Narwhal
  • Steve - Water Buffalo

Will Nick have severe distraction (envy) over Steve's Glorious Mullet and Beard or will Steve be blinded by the circus bears unique ability to use his mass for good (and evil!)? YOU BETTER SHOW UP TO FIND OUT!!!

19.1 CHAS vs JR

Chas v JR.PNG

The Greatest Rivalry in CrossFit Craft History will be reborn on Friday 2/22/19. Chas and JR are both fierce competitors that both qualified for the 2018 Dakota Games, in the weeks leading up to the Battle in Fargo the "group text smack talk" was at an all time high, they also had a 13 hour road trip in the same car to let each other know their true feelings. In the end, the competitors tied on points and the winner after multiple tie breaks ended up being Chas.

Will JR have what it takes to knock Chas off in the inaugural workout of the 2019 CrossFit Open? YOU BETTER SHOW UP TO FIND OUT!!!

For those of you doing our Intramural Open:

  • JR - Narwhal

  • Chas - Water Buffalo
